Zekatex is happy to announce the 40kW / 450V version of its already well recognized product YellowBee DC/DC.

As a combined buck/boost converter, the YellowBee DC/DC can be set up for charging/discharging of either a battery bank or a supercap string and thus easily turn into the heart of your energy storage system.

Powered by the ZekaStream ™ technology you will be able to display the electrical characteristics and diagnose the health of the system with an unprecedented resolution for the industry.

Having a design with fully integrated control, power units and filter bank balances the size and the weight of the installed components. Mounting and servicing of these usually heavy components within the cabinet becomes a much more comprehensive task.

The YellowBee DC/DC can easily fit in applications such as energy storage systems, load balancers or any kind of hybrid systems.

Around midnight of 23.09.2015 Korean time, the first ever build Hybrid drill floor was put to its ultimate test. After killing the main drilling bus, the biggest top drive ever installed on Transocean’s vessel was lifted up by the draw-works more than 50 feet using only stored energy.  This happened for the first time in the world. The Hybrid drill floor technology showed what it is capable of.

Many vendors contributed to this challenging project. The heart of the system - the control for the hybrid functionality - was provided by Zekatex. The Hybrid Drill floor switchboard itself was built by our strategic partner Aspin Kemp and Associates. Last but not least, this would not have been possible without the Transocean’s electrical engineering management and their superior technical guidance during the whole process.

This test was a crucial proof of concept that clearly showed the advantages of this system. The hybrid technology is not only environmental friendly by utilizing megawatts of energy that were previously wasted, it also equalizes the load of the whole power plant thus reducing maintenance and increasing robustness. Deepwater Thalassa will be the first ship to claim using a technology that will become a standard in the future.

On April 16th 2015 RT Emotion sailed from Rotterdam on one electric motor in full hybrid mode, where she will start her operations. The green results are 50% reduction of harmful emissions, significant noise reduction, cleaner combustion and substantial maintenance savings thanks to improved fuel economy. The hybrid capacity is managed by an intelligent XeroPoint Hybrid Propulsion System.

Being a provider of two 200 kW DC/DC conveters, together with our partner - the integrator Aspin Kemp and Associates, we successfully implemented the battery control of RT Emotion tugboat.

Zekatex YellowBee DC was used on the first European Union hybrid tugboat. Being a provider of two 200 kW DC/DC conveters (jokingly named van Boost & van Buck), together with our partner - the integrator Aspin Kemp and Associates, we successfully implemented the battery control of RT Evoltution tugboat. 

Starting from December 8, 2014 RT Evoltuion is fully operational at the harbour of Rotterdam. Godspeed RT Evolution!
